SA: Centrelink sites set up in rural SA
ADELAIDE, April 21 AAP - Rural South Australians will have better access to employment and
welfare services with the establishment of government job agencies launched today.
The federal government's employment agency Centrelink has combined with the state
government's Ruralink centres to provide the services of both organisations at six rural South
Australian sites.
Federal Community Services Minister Warren Truss launched the partnership today and said it
would mean people in country areas would not have to travel hundreds of kilometres to access
federal government services such as pensions and Newstart allowance.
Mr Truss said it was part of Centrelink's Rural Outreach program and similar partnerships
were being explored in other states.
