Vic: Man stole Grange Hermitage for nightclubbing, court told
A Melbourne court's been told a man stole $16,000 worth of Penfold's Grange Hermitage
wine to get money for nightclubbing and drugs.
He's been jailed for 12 months.
Magistrate JILL CROWE says 24-year-old SHANNON PETER FLOYD, of Highett, must have stolen
to either sell the bottles or was preparing for a fantastic millennium party.
Prosecutor Senior Constable JEFF GUNDY says FLOYD and a co-offender stole about 44
bottles of Grange Hermitage from supermarkets and bottle shops from April to October this
year.
Melbourne Magistrates Court heard one haul netted them eight bottles of the Grange
valued at $4,500.
The pair also stole four cars used over the period in the robberies, including a black
Mercedes valued at $65,000 from a suburban golf club.
FLOYD told police he sold the bottles at a Prahran shop for $120 each, using the money
for everyday expenses.
FLOYD pleaded guilty to 25 charges including theft and burglary and was convicted and
sentenced to 12 months jail.
