Western Cape restaurants clean up at annual awards ceremony.(News)

CAPE Town foodies can rejoice as eight of the top 11 Prudential Eat Out Restaurant Awards in South Africa were given to Western Cape restaurants.

The annual award ceremony, held last night at the Westin Grand Hotel in Cape Town, is often called the Foodie Oscars and is a "celebration of culinary excellence", said Eat Out editor Abigail Donnelly.

Donnelly, assisted by food alchemist Peter Goffe-Wood and Arnold Tanzer, vice-president of the South African Chefs Association, judged the event. They narrowed down the list of 20 nominees to just 11.
